Half moon/orange fronted conure with biting problems?

My boyfriend has had his half moon conure for about a year now. When he first got the bird we were dating so the bird has been around us both from the start. Just recently the bird has started aggressively attacking my boyfriend's mom and me. She will go out of her way to run down the couch and bite you hard enough to bleed. What is causing this behavior and is there any way to get her to stop? I have heard it may have something to do with her deciding my boyfriend is her mate and she is protecting her territory. If this is the case, how do you get her to stop being so territorial and aggressive? Any help would be wonderful because it's getting to a point where I don't even want to spend time with the bird anymore.
Answers:
As far as the bird is concerned..the bird and your boyfriend are engaged..yes, she choose him as a mate.
Be patient...offer the bird special treats..grapes..p-nut butter on a cracker..popcorn ( no butter or salt)..a few cherrios.
Is the cage taller than your heads ? If it is the bird when on top of the cage is taller than you are and that puts the bird in command..lower the cage..things will turn around.
