Feeding My Birds Eggs?

I want to feed my birds the eggs they lay, shell and all (my main egg layers are the quails and zebra finches.. and occasionally I get some from my cockatiels and dove).

Assuming this is okay, how do you reccomend preparing the eggs (hard boiled, scrambled, etc?)

Or is it better just to feed chicken eggs or no eggs at all?

Sorry if people from the bird section are getting sick of all my questions one after an another.. but I have a lot of real questions to ask...
Answers:
It is perfectly normal to feed their eggs back to them, and healthy too. Helps to replenish what they lose in the egg laying process. The easiest way to prepare them is hard boiled, then you don't have to add extra fat in frying them. Chop them up, shell and all, in a food processor or by hand. They will love them.

You can add whole grain bread, bird vitamins, protein powder, and whatever to make a nutritious "egg food". Google "egg food", there are many recipes available.
My cockatiel loves eating scrambled eggs. I give her some of mine all the time. I fix them with just a little olive oil and sweet peppers and onions.
I would like to invite you to a great bird forum

Please check them out. Great people and great way to get alot of bird questions answered by people who KNOW what they are talking about.
I have a Goffin Cockatoo, Red Lored Amazon, and 2 Cockatiels and I feed them all eggs.
Chicken eggs, but I don't know about their own eggs.
hard boiled is the easy way
birds love cooked eggs and it is good protein and it is nice not to waste the eggs have right
The time it does them the best is during a molt. The protein is great for the new feathers. The shell is always good for the extra calcium to keep the shells from becoming soft or weak. I hard boil and crush. I also give a dab of yogurt here and there to keep them healthy and a tiny dab of organic apple cider vinegar in the water. Keeps immunities high.
Egg is an excellent source of protein for the birds.

Their own eggs may be a bad idea, depending on how old they are. If there is even the slightest chance of the eggs being spoiled, don't use them.

If you feed fresh eggs, very well done hard boiled eggs would be best.

There are supplements available that are high in egg protein. There are also several recipes on the internet that provide a high egg content sponge cake or bread.

Using the shell of the egg is an excellent source of calcium and other essential minerals.
Many bird lovers feed eggs (with shell and all) to their birds. Scrambled is the most popular way - easier to handle and mix with other feeds. The shell is a good source of calcium for the birds.
Hi there. Hard cooked or scrambled eggs are easier because you may avoid the runny mess from other styles of cooking eggs. If you choose to feed them their own eggs, it would be best if the eggs are not fertile. It probably doesn't matter, it's just a matter of ethics. Eggs are a great source of many nutrients and protein. Crumbled shell helps with preventing calcium deficiency. This is necessary since egg laying is stressful nutritionally for your hens. Constant egg laying can shorten the lives of your hens. If you desire to stop the egg laying, it may be accomplished by providing 12 hours of darkness a day. Most birds need 10-12 hours of darkness everyday anyway. sometimes, with extended light hours, birds will lay more eggs. If this doesn't help, an avian vet can give the birds medication such as Depo-Provera to stop the chronic egg laying. Chronic egg laying can also increase the likelihood of a bird becoming egg bound( the egg gets stuck in the cloaca) which is a life threatening emergency. Use your good judgment and evaluate whether you are dealing with chronic egg laying or not. Then, you can deal with this potential problem as needed. Have a great week.
