How do you get ur amazon to talk?

Answers:
Time...repetition and ..well..more time. The more time you spend with them the quicker they will learn. Also, the professors who teach Alex the african grey say that if you sit with the bird on a table and talk to someone other than the bird and pass objects back and forth that are brightly colored (baby plastic keys work well for us as well as blocks) and as you pass them you say "red block?" and have the other person take it and say "red block!" the bird will feel less "on the spot" and may be more likely to try to get involved in the conversation. It took several months for us to get our grey talking but our conure picked things up in weeks. Amazons can be a bit more stubborn talkers but keep trying! Hope this helps!
I tell her, "Listen woman! You are not that tough."
Just keep repeating the words you want him to learn, it takes time but it will surprise you one day. My Lilic Crowned Amazon (at 3 years of age) would say my name, papa (when he wanted food) and good-bye.
