How do I get bird to come home if he fly's a way?

i saved me bird and i want him to come home and how

omg! all i can say is im sooooooooo srry! I would suggest leaving the door open when ur home!!! Leave out the cage with some food in it!!! With many birds it is instienct to go home!! And w/ my bird he always flys back to his cage because he nos that there is always food in there!!! Well im srry if this dont work!! **tear**

There is not a very big chance they will come home, but they may. Leave several windows open, and your door when you can, as well as their cage just near the opening. The birds will be able to smell not only food, but their home.

If you've saved him from the wild chances are he won't come back. Most birds will however recognise the comfort of living with humans as opposed to living in the wild where they're attacked by crows and things of similar nature. I recently had a budgie disappear when i was cleaning out his cage. About a month later i heard him flying over houses nearby and then he flew straight into my garage! He had been attacked by another bird and all the feathers on his face ripped out and bleeding. His tail feathers were missing too. I cleaned him up and now he's happy and healthy again!.
You have to remember though that birds who live in captivity don't understand about the wild and where they're sposed to find food. they're used to you bringing it to them.
If they haven't been found they're at risk of starvation and attack by other animals. If possible go and find him!
I've had cockatiels get out and i've gone and searched for them and found them every time. I've never let up searching and then i've always been rewarded.

This is a very good question.,once a bird is release ,they will not fly back home. Except for homing Pigeons,homing pigeons could be train to come back home,in fact there are several homing pigeon club out there and believe me,they race them to get back home to their bird cage.,you could go to this website www.pigeonauction.com and you will see how much this birds are being sold specially when they are champion birds.those people who buy this birds usually bred them because once they let them fly,no matter how long you keep them ( even if you cage them several years) they will still come back home to where they are been train to come back home.
