How do i take care of a duck egg?

okay, so there was this duck nest next to my house with about 10 eggs in it. but three days after we found the nest, a racoon got to it and ate 9 eggs. the mom abandoned the one that was left, and i really want to help it. how do i take care of it??
Answers:
You might wanna to bring it on the house, since that racoon COULD come back. Keep in a shoebox lined with towles and place it under a desk lamp.

You could also do this with a heating pad if you have one. IF it does hatch the duck won't need to fed for the first 24 hours. Here's a site that can probalby help you, there's a message board, some of the members there will probably help you out:

If you want the best advice, ask a vet, chances are you shuld be able to handle this yourself.

Hope all goes well for you!
theres really no way to take care of a duck egg, u can google it if u want, take it to the pet store and see wut they can do about it if u really want to help it but u keeping it is only making it die and get worse
keep it warm until it cracks.DON'T DO ANY THING ELSE TO IT OR THE DUCK WILL DIE.trust me.
sit on it.lol

but really.put it in a warm place.if you want it to hatch keep it as warm as mom would have..incubate it...heater blankets.think warm..very warm and comfy. good luck
Merely keeping the egg warm will not make it hatch the egg needs to remain between 98 and 100 degrees. There are ways you make a home made incubator out of a box and a standard 100 watt light bulb in a hanging lamp.make a type of nest hang the light over the nest and adjust the light up and down till you get a constant 99 degrees in the nest. Then place the egg in the nest. You should also put a small bowl of water as close as you can to the nest. This will keep the humidity a little higher.Good luck.Watch the temperature very closely. In case the temp rises and falls and you need to adjust your light level.Raise the light to lower the temp lower the light to raise the temp.
ddstandl. . . is correct except he forgot something.
The egg needs to be turned at least twice a day until you see the egg move itself and then you leave it alone as the duckling is getting in position to break out of the shell.

If you "candle" the egg you might have a better idea of what size duckling you are dealing with.
Take the egg into a dark room and shine a flashlight on it. . . you should see blood vessels or perhaps a partial of full embryo.

Good Luck
put a cross on the egg so you will be able to tell when you have turned the egg,, then put it into the airing cupboard make sure you turn it every day,,,it will take between 18 to 21 days to hatch good luck..
Hi...you might not take this seriouly but you know there is nothing you can do to save the eggs. In the philippines we have this kind of food called BALUT. Boil the eggs for 2 hrs and that's it! Trust me it's good.
