How can i make a bird shut up!?

my bird is a cockiteal and it keeps chirping about every 1.5 seconds. my brother is trying to study in the other room with a math tutor and....the bird keeps doing it. is it because it is night and birds naturally do this? (it is 7:26) and what way can i make it be quiet. should i go over to it and stare at it? put somthing over it?
Answers:
Many birds desire peace and quiet so they can go to sleep once it gets dark. The hour or two before dark they often get the flock's attention by instinct. You and your family are that bird's flock.

If your bird is used to being out and getting handled, the bird may be sweetly begging for you to bring him/her to where you are so it can be a part of the activity. Even if you don't normally get the bird out of the cage, if it is used to the family activity being in it's room it can be trying to let you know it is lonely.

If you determine that the bird is wanting to go to bed, then covering the bird and, if possible, moving it to a quiet room might solve your problem. One word of caution though, Cockatiels are given to night frights, so don't cover the bird totally and put it in a dark room without a night light. They need some light at night so that they don't injure themselves if they get scared.
Birds will sometimes chirp when they are seeking attention. Give your bird attention. If he continues to do it, try and train him to be quiet. If all else fails, you just have a loud, noisy bird. ;o)
Putting a cloth over the cage usually works
you cant you have to leave it!

good luck!
put it in its cage and
1) put a towel over it

2) shoot it
Cover his cage at night. Put a little birdie mirror in his cage,he will talk to it.
Usually putting a light blanket or cloth over the cage quites them down.
cook it.
The perfect way is to get a pieece of duck tape and put it on the bird. Then the bird will shut up
mutilate a bird body in front of it, then it will be quiet
Putting an old towel over the cage can help. My parakeets love music and sunshine, and start chirpping whenever anything to do with that starts. I just cover them with a towel, and they start to calm down.
introduce it to a cat and lock them togethet in a cage. it should get quiet soon after...;deadly quiet.
Put the cage outside and open the door. Let it sit for a few minutes...
Cockatiels have varied personalities. Some are quiet, while others may be attention starved. I would make sure the bird had clean food %26 water. One way I shut my bird up is with fresh fruit or veggies. My little birdie only makes noise when she wants something...ie., attention, food, water, or something is scaring her.
Take the bird out and play with it. Birds are social and do not like to be locked alone in their cages. Don't get frustrated, just learn your pets needs.
birds are always wanting attention... if you gave it a certain amount of attention at 1 point and you aren't giving it now...start giving it more attention.
another thing u might want to try is putting a thin cloth over their cage, but don't put it for like...days at a time
Its a bird nothig will ever shut it up
