Here's what I want in a pet bird...am I asking too much?

Great personality. Low noise. Social with people. Hardy. Doesn't live forever. I don't care if it talks or not. Easy to tame. Not a biter. INTELLIGENT.

Well?
Answers:
Dude, it's a bird!
good luck with the low noise part.
yes try a parakeet and spend some good quality time with it.
No your not. I had a Parakeet, it was was not noisy and he loved people. He was pretty smart to. I also trained him to fly ontop of my finger.
Birds, due to their sensitive respiratory systems, cannot be considered ''hardy'' in any sense.

Perhaps you should consider a dove? They make noise, but it's a ''coo'' noise that is more soothing than the loud squawk of many birds.

If you get one that's been hand-raised, they'll be easy to handle, as well. Doesn't have an exceptionally long lifespan (average around 8 years, can be between 5-15 yrs).
Lovebirds! But ya gotta get two. No bird is silent though, so cover the cage at night so you can sleep. People usually say birds are smart because they speak English (hmmm... maybe we're the dumb ones 'cuz we don't speak Bird!), so I don't exactly know what you mean by intelligent, although I've never heard of a finch or lovebird flying away like larger, "smarter" birds often do. The bigger ones are hardier - but they live alot longer.
Good luck with your new pet!
Doves are great birds and easy to tame. They also make soothing couing noises instead of loud squawking. They however, are not the most intelegent birds.
No. You're not asking too much. If you can afford it, check out the animal store in the mall. Or, for good karma, go to the pound. Find one before they put it to sleep. Do like Bob Barker says;"Help control the pet population; have your pet spayed or neutered." I just had another idea, if you can afford it. Check out Petco or Petsmart. The always have beautiful birds for sale. And the employees can teach you exactly how to care for it. Good luck!
The low noise part takes a lot of great parrots off the list, although you can train parrots not to scream.

You may want to consider a cockatiel.
They have wonderful personalities although every individual is different (all 7 of my cockatiels had very different personalities).
They do make a bit of noise, but it is quiet compared to other birds.
As long as you spend time with your bird and train it well, any parrot can be social with people.
Cockatiels live for 15-20 years when looked after properly.

Otherwise, besides the noise thing, I would say a rainbow lorikeet (although they can be very loud). They have terrific personalities and are quite intelligent, they are high energy birds that love nothing more than to play, play, play. Mine loves all people, and he goes crazy with excitement when he meets someone new. They live 30-40 years, are very easy to tame (even parent reared ones but I still reccomend hand reared) and are good talkers. Mine only bites if he is really upset or scared.
Please go below these sites on parrots and love birds. May I know the meaning of Doesn't live forever as you had mentioned ?
In this case even HUMANS DO NOT LIVE FOREVER .
My pet parrot lived for 20 years with us and died 2 years back.
The house looked so empty after her dead . I had dog too who died 12 years back.
It seems that you are not looking for a bird but for a tamed servant !!
I do think you are asking too much and I feel that you should wait and ask yourself if you are ready to care for them.
Excuse me but I need to say that having birds as a pet or dog or any domestic pet needs lots of care and responsibility.
Pets are like babies. They want attention, care, warmth, vet doctor and someone to sits in front of them . Read more about pet birds before buying.
Birds will make noise . Please do not do wing clipping either. It is like cutting the hands of the person.
I used to free the parrot in the room. Before that close the windows and door.
Switch off the fan. Let the parrot freely move in the room. You will love when your pet will spread her wings as if to express her happiness or wet her wings if you keep water bowl. My parrot would fly and climb on the curtain and sit there whole day.
