How can I keep birds from flying into our plate glass windows?

Is there a way to mark the windows or something to put over them?
Answers:
Yes, there are transparent stickers you can buy that are very hard for the human eye to see but the birds see them well. Don't ask how that works.
maybe put a picture of a hawk or eagle on the window, the birds wont come near it
stick some of those stained glass things on the windows with the suction cups...i don't know what they are called, but try to put something on the window that they can see, and lets them know that they can't fly through it.
Store that specialize in wild bird supplies and feeders have large cutouts that look exactly like owls..hang this in your window and it should do the trick.
The birds can't see the glass so they crash into it.
don't wash your windows
This solution WORKS. We hang old Cd's inside the window, showing the shiny coloured side out, say about half way down the length of the window. Cd's and DVD's reflect all colours of light, and the birds see it and avoid it.

Our problem was that we have triple-paned windows that reflect all of the light from the sky, the appearance from the OUTSIDE is that the window IS a piece of sky. Birds were flying into them regularly.

Hanging old Cd's in the window SHINY side OUT, really does help.
find a vet that has a reputation for working with birds, or a local pet store that works with birds, and get the wings on your birds clipped. there are many differant dedrees of wing clippings you can give your bird. one that allows no flying at all.. to one that offeres only level flight. feather trimming does not hurt the bird, and they do not feel it...as im sure you already know, a birds bones are all hollow, and can be broken very easy.
