My budgie recently has been rubing his neck on his perch- why is he doing this? Is he rubbing his scent of like dogs do or is he having a gd itch (isn't that what beaks are for?)

But if its excessive or the budgie loses weight and or feathers take it to the vet, but it could be caused by mites
But most budgies will have problems scratching their heads and behind their necks and if they can't reach it with their feet they will use another object like a perch or toy so its probably nothing to worry about.
Yes it is an itch ,most birds and animals do this action with various parts of the body
Yes budgies get itches they have little mites living in their feathers sometimes a bit like dust mites yack
